San San Case Study

FROM A NEW BRAND TO QUEUES OUT THE DOOR

San San’s story started before the doors opened.

With The Hype’s owner also owning San San, we built the brand from the ground up, creating its logo, colour palette and complete design footprint. We then brought that identity to life through organic social media, ongoing influencer marketing and a PR launch that put San San on the map.

The buzz translated into queues of around 50 people every day from opening, alongside 25 print and online PR placements and hundreds of influencer shares.

With no paid advertising, San San built its reputation through a strong brand, social content and word of mouth. Now, just 18 months after opening, it is preparing to open its fourth store.

THE CHALLENGE

Launching a new hospitality business means giving people a reason to care before they have experienced the food.

San San needed a distinctive identity, a clear personality and enough anticipation to bring customers through the doors from day one.

The challenge went beyond a successful opening. We needed to maintain attention, build credibility and create a brand people would recognise, recommend and seek out as the business expanded.

OUR STRATEGY

BUILDING THE BRAND FROM THE GROUND UP

The Hype created San San’s complete visual identity, including its logo, colours and wider design footprint.

This gave the business a consistent, recognisable presence across its customer touchpoints. Every part of the design helped establish a brand that people could remember and associate with the San San experience.

That identity became the foundation for the launch and all ongoing marketing.

GENERATING HYPE BEFORE OPENING

We used social media to introduce San San and build anticipation before the doors opened.

The content gave people a first look at the brand and reasons to get excited about visiting. By building awareness early, we helped turn the opening into an event people already wanted to be part of.

The result was immediate demand, with queues of around 50 people each day from opening.

KEEPING ORGANIC SOCIAL ALWAYS ON

After launch, we maintained a consistent social media presence to keep San San visible and the conversation going.

Organic content supported the brand’s personality, showcased the experience and gave audiences fresh reasons to visit and share it with friends.

There was no paid advertising behind the approach. Attention grew through content, community, influencer exposure and word of mouth.

ONGOING INFLUENCER MARKETING

Influencer marketing was an ongoing part of the strategy.

By continually introducing San San to creators and their audiences, we maintained a stream of discovery beyond the initial launch. Hundreds of influencer shares helped spread the brand through personal recommendations and firsthand experiences.

This ongoing activity helped build the street credibility that made San San a destination people wanted to try.

A PR LAUNCH THAT BUILT CREDIBILITY

The PR launch generated 25 placements across print and online publications, including Delicious, Good Food, Broadsheet, Time Out and Urban List.

These placements introduced San San to wider audiences and added editorial credibility to the social buzz.

Together, PR coverage and influencer shares gave people multiple ways to discover the brand and more reasons to put it on their must-visit list.

THE RESULTS

DAILY QUEUES OF AROUND 50 PEOPLE

Daily queues from opening, following a launch built around anticipation and organic awareness.

25 PR PLACEMENTS

Coverage across print and online, including leading food and lifestyle publications.

HUNDREDS OF INFLUENCER SHARES

Ongoing creator exposure that extended discovery beyond the launch.

FOURTH STORE OPENING IN 18 MONTHS

San San is preparing to open its fourth store just a year and a half after its first opening.

NO PAID ADVERTISING

The marketing approach relied on organic social media, influencer activity, PR and word of mouth.

San San’s growth shows the value of building a brand people recognise and want to talk about.

The visual identity gave the business a distinctive presence. Social media built anticipation and maintained attention. Influencers and PR helped establish credibility and spread the word.

Together, these elements supported a launch with queues out the door and helped build the reputation behind San San’s expansion.
